Swinton and Commercial lines acquisitions

Historically our acquisition activity has focused on personal lines brokers or acquiring the personal lines accounts from brokers wishing to concentrate their efforts on their commercial accounts. 2007 saw us expand our acquisition criteria as we looked to significantly grow our commercial account, developing a national presence via a network of regional offices.

From its humble beginnings back in 2004 with just 4 advisors, Swinton Commercial has grown both organically and through acquisition. This growth led to the divisions' move to new premises in Manchester. Swinton Commercial now operates from several sites around the country with a team of 350 staff.

Over time, both the insurer panel and product range have been extended. As well as some of the more complex commercial packages our recent acquisitions give us access to a number of schemes from schools to fish & chip shops to bouncy castles!

Following the huge success and awards of our PMC, Home, Bike and Motorhome websites we have now launched our Commercial Vehicle website offering full quote-to-sale functionality with sales being serviced from our Small Business Centre in Manchester.

Our acquisition of Equity significantly expands our UK commercial insurance presence and we now have a team of 40 Commercial Account Executives to service and retain our existing high value customers and also generate new business from more complex risks. These account execs supplement regional network of commercial offices and operate from strategic locations across the UK.

The original commercial division has grown rapidly over the past 4 years with the Manchester unit now delivering almost £20m GPI. Today, with the addition of acquired businesses, Swinton Commercial accounts for a nationwide GPI of £100m.
